The Pakistan cricket team suffered a major injury blow against Bangladesh in the second ODI of their three-match series at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Friday, March 13. Defending 274 runs to level the series, Pakistan all-rounder Hussain Talat sustained a nasty injury while fielding during the seventh over of the Bangladesh innings.
The injury even prompted the Pakistan support staff as well as several stadium officials to “stretcher” Talat off the field before rains halted play in Mirpur.
Hussain Talat injures left shoulder, availability in doubt
Hussain Talat injured his shoulder while fielding during the seventh over of the Bangladesh innings. The incident occurred when Bangladesh’s number four batter Litton Das guided a length ball from Pakistan paceman Shaheen Afridi past second slip towards the deep third region.

While making the fielding effort, Talat got his left shoulder jammed and was seen in visible discomfort on the ground. As the cricketer writhed in pain, he was approached by several members of the Pakistan support staff inside the field.
A while later, he was carried by several staff members on a stretcher and was escorted off the ground.
After receiving immediate medical attention on the field, Hussain Talat has now been taken to a nearby hospital for further assessment. As of now, it remains to be seen if the 30-year-old will be available to play in the remainder of the match or the series in any capacity.
The PCB will be expected to make an official announcement regarding Talat’s injury and availability update after further medical evaluation by the doctors.
Hussain Talat groomed as Pakistan looks to rebuilt for World Cup 2027
Hussain Talat, who made his ODI debut way back in January 2019 during a series in South Africa, was called back into the national squad for the tour of West Indies last year in August 2025. The cricketer also featured in Pakistan’s home ODI series against South Africa and Sri Lanka, both in November later in the year.
The 30-year-old was recently selected in Pakistan’s ODI setup for the white-ball tour of Bangladesh, as the PCB looks to groom a fresh core of players in their road towards the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
So far, the middle-order batter has struggled to justify his place in the national squad for the Bangladesh tour, as he has aggregated just 13 runs across both innings of the first two ODIs.
Pakistan mounts 274 after losing the toss
Aiming to level the series after receiving an eight-wicket drubbing against Bangladesh in the first ODI, Pakistan lost the toss in the second and were put into bat first by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. With half-centuries from opener Maaz Sadaqat (75 off 46) and Salman Agha (64 off 62), the ‘Men in Green’ charted 274 before getting bundled out in 47.3 overs.
For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain picked up three wickets in the high-scoring innings and he received much assistance from teammates Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2-34), Taskin Ahmed (1-59), Mustafizur Rahman (1-53) and Nahid Rana (1-59).
Chasing 275, Bangladesh stumbled to 27-3 in 6.3 overs in front of Shaheen Afridi (2-9) and Mohammad Wasim (1-18) before rains halted play in Mirpur.
