Forgotten Pakistan star Usama Mir scripted Sialkot Region’s huge win over Lahore Region Blues in match number 11 of the 2026 National T20 Cup. The leg-spinner picked up six wickets in the match at an expense of just eight runs from just 3.2 overs at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on Thursday, March 12.
Through the course of his match-winning spell, the 30-year-old also broke an elite record previously held by former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir for the Rajasthan Royals franchise. The record dated back to the inaugural IPL season in May 2008, before the BCCI barred Pakistani players from participating in the tournament.

Usama Mir gets Sialkot Region off the mark
Sialkot Region batted first and mounted 210-4 in 20 overs, despite the early loss of both openers. Abdullah Shafique at number three smeared 57 quick runs from just 31 balls with six fours and three huge sixes in Peshawar. Hasan Nawaz (41 off 28) and Mohsin Riaz (30* off 26) scored valuable runs in the middle-order, while Ahsan Hafeez blasted 47* from just 17 deliveries at the death.
In response, Usama Mir picked up six of the 10 fallen Lahore Region Blues wickets for just eight runs. Even though opening batter Umar Siddiq and wicketkeeper Hamza Zahoor chipped in with 30s at the top, the Blues bundled out for just 100 to hand Sialkot a huge 110-run win.
The win, under the leadership of captain Mir, also got the Sialkot Region off the mark on the Group B points table of the 2026 National T20 Cap after their opening defeat.
Usama Mir continues to remain on the sidelines
Despite demonstrating his wicket-taking pedigree to the fullest of late, Usama Mir continues to remain overlooked by the Pakistan national team. To date, the cricketer has played just 12 ODIs and five T20I matches for the ‘Men in Green’, picking up 20 wickets combined across both formats.
He last played any form of cricket for the Pakistan national team back in April 2024 during a home T20I series against New Zealand.
