Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have landed in trouble after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) filed a complaint with the BCCI during Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). This issue comes after the match between the two teams on April 5 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

To understand the situation better, it is important to know that CSK and RCB share one of the biggest rivalries in the IPL. Often called the “Southern Derby,” matches between these two teams are always intense.

Moreover, their fans are very passionate, and friendly banter, trolling, and even songs are common during such clashes. However, sometimes these actions can cross the line.

RCB defeat CSK at Chinnaswamy Stadium

Coming to the match, RCB had a strong performance in the match. They batted first and scored a massive 250/3 in 20 overs. Their innings was filled with aggressive shots and consistent scoring across the batting lineup.

On the other hand, CSK struggled while chasing the target. Although Sarfaraz Khan played an impressive innings and scored a quick fifty in just 24 balls, the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals. As a result, RCB won the match comfortably by 43 runs.

CSK not happy with RCB

However, the main issue did not come from the gameplay but from something that happened during the match. The Chennai based franchise raised concerns about a song played by the stadium DJ. Specifically, before the Yellow Army began their innings, the DJ played the track ‘Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney.’

According to Super Kings, this song is often used in memes that stereotype South Indian culture. Therefore, they felt that playing it at that moment was inappropriate and disrespectful. Because of this, the franchise decided to officially complain to the BCCI.

Moreover, a top IPL official confirmed that the complaint has been received and is currently under review.  “Has received a complaint from Chennai Super Kings and is looking into it,” the source said.

This means that the governing council will look into the matter and decide if any action needs to be taken.

CSK official reacts on the issue

In addition to the complaint, CSK Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan also spoke about the incident.

“The DJs are usually there to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering that, we have written to the BCCI to look into it,” he told Indian Express.

"After that incident, there hadn’t been any repeat. The DJ isn’t supposed to make comments on opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that supports us in large numbers,” he added.

Background of the ‘Dosa, Idli’ song issue

Interestingly, this is not the first time the ‘Dosa, Idli’ song has caused controversy. Last year, before a match between RCB and CSK, RCB posted a video of their wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma singing the same song. As a result, fans heavily criticized him online.

However, after that incident, Super Kings management made it clear that they would avoid making negative comments about opponents or fans. Since then, no similar issues had occurred until now.

Apart from the song, Chennai Super Kings also objected to comments made by the DJ on the public address system when their players were dismissed.

It is important to note that this is the first such complaint in IPL 2026 where a franchise has approached the BCCI over this type of issue. However, it is still unclear what action, if any, will be taken against the DJ.

Looking ahead, the five-time champions will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
