Shubman Gill's one-word Instagram post breaks internet amid T20 World Cup 2026 snub
Notably, earlier, Shubman Gill was omitted from India's 15-member squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, held in India and Sri Lanka from February to March 2026, due to poor form and team combination preferences.
With Abhishek Sharma, the No. 1 T20I batter in the world already being there in the mix, the Indian Cricket Team selectors favoured power hitters and top-order wicketkeepers like Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, sidelining Gill's quality.

Shubman Gill joins GT’s training camp to kick off IPL 2026 preparations
Indian batter Shubman Gill, known for his elegant batting, has begun his preparations for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. With the cash-rich tournament set to kick off in a couple of months, several franchises have started their rehearsals for the cash-rich tournament.
It is important to note that the Indian captain is coming through a rough time lately. The Punjab-born is also recovering from an unpleasant series loss against South Africa in Tests and ODIs. On top of that, the batter is recovering from a neck injury sustained during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata in November 2025.
On the other hand, the IPL 2022 champions, the Gujarat Titans, turned things around after a lowly eighth-place finish in the 2024 edition, to wrap up their next season campaign with a third-place finish in 2025. Ending their previous season with 9 wins, four losses, and a solitary no-result game, Shubman Gill-led Titans will aim for their second title in IPL 2026.
Coming off a poor form, Gill impresses in Gujarat Titans nets
Wearing the team’s new training kit, the Gujarat Titans' captain Shubman Gill looked in excellent touch with the bat. The right-hander looked solid on the field, playing a wide range of shots, including pulls, cover drives, lofted hits and flicks. What seemed like good news for the franchise, the out-of-form batter seemed to be timing the ball really well and looked confident and in good rhythm.
Moreover, GT head coach Ashish Nehra was also observing Gill closely from behind during the net sessions. Lastly, after finishing practice, Shubman Gill was also seen chatting with Nehra as they walked off the field amid the preparations.
