BCCI makes major IPL announcement after PCB's PSL setback [Source: X]
In a significant development, the BCCI made a major announcement about IPL 2026 days before the season opener against RCB and SRH.
The announcement came hours after the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB announced that the PSL 2026 matches would be played behind closed doors.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi also confirmed that all matches of the Pakistani league would be held across two venues- Lahore and Karachi.
While the PCB barred the fans from witnessing the PSL matches live from the stands, the BCCI took a major step, announcing the official schedule for a grand event days before the IPL.
Mohsin Naqvi's PCB blocks fans from PSL matches
The Iran-USA war and geopolitical turmoil in the Middle East led to the shortage of fuel in the subcontinent.
Pakistan is also a victim of the war, as the country is dealing with a massive fuel crisis amid the ongoing war between Iran, the United States and the Middle-East nations.
The PCB, led by Mohsin Naqvi, announced that it would conduct the PSL 2026 matches behind closed doors.
The tournament, which was initially supposed to be played across six cities, has now been confined to only two venues- the National Stadium in Karachi and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
These radical steps have been taken to combat the fuel crisis and avoid logistical challenges. Thus, the passionate cricket fans from Pakistan won't be able to watch the PSL matches live from the stands.
BCCI announces IPL fan park after PCB bars fans from PSL
While the PCB blocked the Pakistan fans from the Pakistan Super League, its Indian counterpart, the BCCI, released the official schedule of the IPL fan park. The IPL fan park is a mega event organised by the BCCI every year for fans across the country.

The move is aimed at giving the fans an unforgettable experience through live match screenings alongside plenty of engaging on-ground activities, including music, entertainment, food courts, kids’ play zones, and interactive fan engagement initiatives such as virtual batting experiences, bowling nets, face painting, cheer-o-meters and 360° photo booths.
In other words, the BCCI plans a grand celebration of the IPL with the passionate Indian cricket fans at a time when the spectators from neighbouring countries can't even watch their favourites play live from the stands.
Thus, the Indian board cheekily rubbed salt on Mohsin Naqvi's wounds, re-establishing its stature as a capable administrative body which keeps the fans as the first priority, unlike its Pakistani counterparts.
