The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are set to show no mercy to Litton Das, their T20I captain, and Mahedi Hasan, one of the frontline spinners who often gets into the mix whenever the conditions demand.
Both Litton and Mahedi will have heavy financial fines imposed by the BCB, as confirmed by the Times of Bangladesh.
The bold BCB move came as a warning to other Bangladesh players, who will now think twice before questioning the national cricket board, making accusations against them, or making moves without informing them.
Why BCB Imposed Financial Fines On Litton & Mahedi?
During the recently concluded Bangladesh tour of Zimbabwe, Litton Das travelled abroad without notifying the BCB. The board then discussed the matter with the Bangladesh T20I captain before making a formal announcement about punishing him.
The BCB code of conduct tells the Bangladesh players to obtain approval from the board before travelling abroad whenever they are not there to play for the country. Litton, who was injured at that point, did not follow the guidelines.
Mahedi Hasan, on the other hand, spoke rashly about the BCB's selection process.

“There is always some disappointment. I am a cricketer. I only play T20 cricket, but even here I am not a regular. Most of the time, I am left out because of match requirements or team combinations. It is certainly frustrating. If I could play regularly, I believe I could perform even better than I have before,” Mahedi told T Sports.
Once the Bangladesh tour of Zimbabwe was over, BCB summoned Mahedi for his statements before making the decision.
BCB Moves To Fine Litton Das & Mahedi Hasan
A source close to the Times of Bangladesh confirmed the news about Litton Das and Mahedi Hasan. The source even mentioned that Mahedi was at the receiving end of the BCB more than Litton.
“Financial penalties have been proposed for both Shak Mahedi and Litton Das. Mahedi’s fine is higher than Litton’s,” the BCB source told Times of Bangladesh.
Furthermore, a BCB director did not reveal the exact amount of the fine either, saying it was an internal matter.
“The exact figures will not be disclosed at this stage as the matter remains internal, but financial penalties have been proposed for both players,” the director said, as quoted by Times Of Bangladesh.
Where Is Litton Das Now?
Litton Das is currently in Singapore, recovering with treatment for his calf. He was out injured for the same reason during the Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe ODIs, although he received a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from BCB to play in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), which is currently ongoing.
It is still unclear whether Litton will return to play in LPL, a competition where he represents Galle Marvels.
