The ongoing demonstrations at Delhi's Jantar Mantar have continued to draw attention across the country, with students and young protesters gathering to press their demands.

While most members of the cricketing fraternity have largely stayed away from commenting on the issue, former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh recently appealed for the safety and well-being of the students.

Now, former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has also reacted to the protests, sharing his views through social media. The former cricketer questioned the nature of recurring anti-government demonstrations while showing his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kaneria shared his concerns over the protests and suggested that similar demonstrations often follow a recurring pattern.

"I am disturbed because every protest in India seems to have the same script. 1. Abuse Lord Ram. 2. Abuse Bharat Mata. 3. Abuse PM Modi. 4. Abuse PM Modi's late mother. 5. Abuse Brahmins. 6. Abuse Hindutva," Kaneria wrote.

The former Pakistan international further argued that public discourse should move towards discussion and solutions rather than confrontation.

"No discussion. No solutions. Only slogans, abuse, and chaos. The opposition seems to be living under the illusion that one day they will be able to create a Nepal-like situation in India."

As per Kaneria, demonstrations eventually shift away from their original demands and become focused on attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hindutva, Brahmins, and nationalist symbols.

Without any clear political solution or demand laid out, Danish Kaneria believes some opposition forces are trying to create sustained political unrest or institutional instability against the PM Narendra Modi-led government.

His remarks came just a day after Yuvraj Singh appealed for peace, urging students and authorities to prioritise dialogue amid the demonstrations.

Kaneria’s previous political comments on Indian government

Danish Kaneria has previously praised several Indian government initiatives. This is not the first time Kaneria has publicly expressed views on Indian public affairs.

The former Pakistan spinner has previously voiced support for the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating that it would benefit persecuted Hindu minorities from neighbouring countries.

At the time, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the legislation. Kaneria has also publicly wished the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on its anniversary, praising its social service initiatives.

At the same time, he has clarified that he is not seeking Indian citizenship and has no current plans to apply under the CAA, stating that he continues to remain a Pakistani citizen based in the United States.

CJP Protest continues to dominate national attention

The demonstrations in central Delhi have remained in focus over the past few days. Earlier, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh appealed for the safety of students and called for a peaceful resolution through dialogue.

As the protests continue, reactions from current and former sportspersons have remained limited, with Kaneria becoming one of the few international cricketers to publicly comment on the developments.
