India has always been a powerhouse in the ODI format, while England struggled to adjust to the format, but the revolution came when Eoin Morgan was appointed the ODI captain. The former Irish cricketer changed the English ODI template, helping the team capture their maiden 50-over title in 2019.
However, that was the first and the last time (to date) that England have tasted success in the ODI format, and naturally, when the world talks about picking the India-England combined ODI XI, most of the Indian players naturally fit in.
Recently on SKY Sports, former India cricketer Ravi Shastri and England’s World Cup-winning captain, Eoin Morgan, selected the India-England combined ODI XI, and as expected, the Men in Blue dominated the list.
India's three greatest ODI players picked at the top
The list was dominated by India, and to no one’s surprise, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli were the top three batters. Rohit has scored truckloads of runs against England, and also in the ODI format, while Kohli has the most number of centuries in this format.
Tendulkar, on the other hand, still has the most ODI runs, and the second-most ODI tons behind Kohli.
Two England stars picked in India-England conbined ODI XI
As expected, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, two players who have played a pivotal role in shaping England’s ODI history, have been picked in the India-England combined ODI XI by Shastri and Morgan.
Over the years, Buttler and Stokes have terrorised India in the ODIs, and they have rightly been picked. Apart from the English duo, the legendary Indian duo of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh also make the India-England combined ODI XI list.
MS Dhoni has a solid track record in ODIs, and Yuvraj has the most ODI centuries in the India-England matches. Apart from them, Kapil Dev fits in the team as an all-rounder.
Bumrah makes the cut in India-England all time ODI XI
Two spinners have been picked in the India-England combined ODI XI, with Harbhajan Singh and Adil Rashid making the cut. Rashid is the final English name on the list as only three players have been selected.

The leader of the pace attack is Jasprit Bumrah, who boasts an outstanding ODI record (overall, and also against England), and he will lead the attack alongside Kapil Dev.
Zaheer Khan, the former Indian seamer has been picked by Shastri and Morgan as the 12th man in the team.
Several legends miss out on the India-England combined XI list
Several India-England legendary players have not been picked, and there was a good shout to pick these players. Marcus Trescothick, the former English opener, had an average of 40.93 against India, and during those days, he used to strike at 94 against the Men in Blue.
Suresh Raina, the Indian great, had an average of 41.62 against England, and he scored runs against them, not only in India, but on English shores as well.
Then comes the maverick Kevin Pietersen. The England batter had an average of 45.52 against India in ODIs, and he could have replaced one of the middle-order batters in the list.
