India A crushed USA in their opening warm-up match of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Tilak Varma had a good crack with the bat in his comeback game, but opener Narayan Jagadeesan and captain Ayush Badoni hogged the limelight with their blistering knocks.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights from the warm-up match of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup between India A and USA, as it panned out at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Monday, February 2.
Tilak Varma warms up in style with Narayan Jagadeesan
Priyansh Arya led India A’s aggressive top-order onslaught with a barrage of powerplay boundaries. The Punjab Kings star clattered three fours and two huge sixes to slap 28 off just 13 balls as India A raced to 43 in the first four overs.
Arya’s fiery knock was eventually curtailed by USA fast bowler Jasdeep Singh (1-36) in the fourth over of the innings, prompting an early arrival of comeback man Tilak Varma into the crease. Varma started off cautiously, while opener Narayan Jagadeesan took up the run-scoring onus as the two cricketers shared 113 runs for the second wicket in just 55 balls.
The Indian international composed 38 runs off 24 deliveries with three fours and two sixes to warm up in style. His partner Jagadeesan notched up a swift half-century before Tilak Varma got holed out by Andries Gous off Shubham Ranjane (1-12).
Ayush Badoni fires India A to 238-3
Batting at number four and arriving to the crease with just seven overs remaining, captain Ayush Badoni fired India A to a monumental 238-3 in 20 overs. The Delhi cricketer smeared six fours and four huge sixes to chart an electrifying 60* off 26 balls.
Narayan Jagadeesan went on to club 11 boundaries and five sixes to blaze to 104 off 55 deliveries in his top-scoring act. The well-set centurion was ultimately dismissed by Ali Khan (1-36) in the penultimate over.
Sanjay Krishnamurthi and late cameos headline USA’s spirited chase
Chasing an improbable 239 for a win against some of India’s most experienced domestic bowlers and a couple of international stars, the USA team offered resistance well beyond expectations.
While Ravi Bishnoi and Khaleel Ahmed removed USA skipper Monank Patel and number three Saiteja Mukkamalla respectively inside the powerplay, Andries Gous overcame his team’s top-order setback with a pacey 44. Milind Kumar got a hand run-a-ball 18 but USA still slipped to 75-4 around the halfway stage of the innings.
Sanjay Krishnamurthi bludgeoned 41 off just 18 balls in the middle-order, and his sparkling cameo was further backed by explosive knocks from Shubham Ranjane (28 off 17), Harmeet Singh (25 off 9) and Mohammad Mohsin (21 off 10). Their collective belligerence helped USA stretch to 200 all out in 19.4 overs.
For India A, Ravi Bishnoi (3-37) and Khaleel Ahmed (2-25) picked up five wickets between them as the hosts walked away with a 38-run win.
