It's worth mentioning that a Pakistani woman named Hamiza Mukhtar accused Babar of sexual harassment in 2018. Although she withdrew it, the case resurfaced when Mukhtar re-entered Babar's life with a legal notice in 2020.
Mukhtar had alleged that the Pakistani cricketer had sexually harassed her, demanding compensation of Rs 150 million.
She had approached the Justice of Peace, asking him to pay the aforementioned amount through a legal notice. As Babar refused to do so, the Justice of Peace circulated a directive to register a formal FIR against him.
Babar Azam relieved by Lahore High Court's order
As Babar faced an FIR threat, he approached the Lahore High Court, seeking justice. Babar's lawyer Haris Azmat argued that his client had nothing to do with the sexual harassment and that the complainant used his name and stature for publicity.
Azmat told the High Court how Hamiza Mukhtar attempted to take the advantage of Babar Azam's reputation and tried to extort millions as compensation. He explained that the Justice of Peace's orders to file an FIR against Babar failed to fulfil the legal requirements.
Thus, the Lahore High Court, in its judgment, dismissed the FIR orders, relieving the Pakistan star in this process.
