Pakistan are ready to host Australia for an exciting three-match T20 International series, which will begin on Wednesday, January 28, at the famous Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Notably, this series is important because it gives both teams a chance to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.

Australia name strong squad against Pakistan

For Australia, this series has two main goals. Firstly, it will help the team fine-tune their plans before the World Cup. Secondly, it gives new and young players a chance to gain international experience.

As a result, uncapped players Mahli Beardman and Jack Edwards have been included in the 17-member squad.

However, only 10 players from Australia’s World Cup squad will take part. Senior players such as Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, and Glenn Maxwell will miss the tour due to injuries or workload management and will instead join the squad later in Sri Lanka.

Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi return to T20I squad

On the other hand, Pakistan will look to make the most of playing at home. Under the leadership of captain Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan hopes to take advantage of Australia’s less experienced bowling attack.

In addition, former captains Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi have returned to the T20 squad, which adds strength and confidence to the team.

It is important to note that Babar Azam had earlier missed the Sri Lanka series because he was playing in Australia’s Big Bash League, but he ended his campaign early to rejoin the national side. Meanwhile, Afridi is back after recovering from a knee injury suffered during the BBL.

So, as both teams get ready for the series, let’s take a look at all the important details you need to know.
