Australia Poised To Host IPL (Source: AFP Photos)
Australia are all set to host the Indian Premier League (IPL), a surprising move that came out of nowhere on Tuesday. The groundbreaking news was broken by Australia’s reputed media outlet, sen.com.au, as Adelaide Oval is ready to set a new bar in the world of cricket.
The SEN report added that Adelaide Oval chairman Jamie Briggs and SACA boss Will Rayne have discussed the idea of hosting IPL with many stakeholders, although the BCCI is yet to receive the proposal from their end.
Why Australia Planning To Host IPL?
The idea of Australia hosting the IPL came after the Big Bash League (BBL) reportedly secured a match in India. The BBL opener for the upcoming edition is set to take place in Chennai, with the final announcement from the official boards only pending.
Similarly, Adelaide Oval is planning to have an IPL match, which could help them hog more limelight at the venue.
To give more clarity, Australia are planning to host a full-fledged IPL match, not an entire season. Of course, even a match could get all the limelight they wanted as IPL is an undisputed profitable tournament with insane growth over the years.

"Adelaide Oval officials believe a cricket arena could turn into an AFL field in as little as 48 hours, paving the way for an IPL game in late March - after the beginning of the football season - and at the start of the juggernaut Indian tournament," the SEN report read.
"They also believe March is the best time for cricket from a climatic perspective," it added.
Adelaide Oval In Race To Get T20 World Cup 2028 Final
However, it will be interesting to see when Adelaide Oval makes the move to the BCCI for the IPL hosting proposal. The venue is already in the race to host the T20 World Cup 2028 final.
The upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup will take place in the October-November window, with Australia and New Zealand all set to host the entire grand event. With 20 teams set to feature there, the final schedule and venues are yet to be finalised.
There, Adelaide Oval wants to have the all-important finale.
Why BBL & IPL Are Planning To Make Moves?
The relationship between two of the richest cricket boards in the world, Cricket Australia (CA) and the BCCI, has always been great. Even though the BCCI does not allow its active players to travel to other franchise leagues, it has not affected their connection.
Now, the CA-owned BBL has taken a significant step already to have the next season’s opener in Chennai. In return, they will make a request to the BCCI. Now, the time will tell whether the BCCI will accept the proposal once it is on the table.
