India's historic victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has sparked massive celebrations across the country. The Indian team defeated the New Zealand in the final at the packed Narendra Modi Stadium on March 8, 2026.

While the nation is celebrating the massive achievement, a social media post from Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan drew attention and sparked online discussion, with many fans interpreting it as an indirect comment on India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir.

India Defeats New Zealand to Win T20 World Cup 2026

India delivered a dominant performance in the final to successfully defend their title. Batting first, the Indian side produced a powerful display with the bat, scoring an impressive 255/5 in 20 overs, the highest total ever recorded in a T20 World Cup final.

The innings was driven by crucial contributions from Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan, who played aggressive knocks to set a massive target for New Zealand.

Chasing the daunting target, the New Zealand struggled to maintain the required run rate. India's bowlers maintained disciplined lines and lengths, putting constant pressure on the opposition.

With this win, India not only lifted the T20 World Cup trophy on home soil for the first time but also created history by becoming the first team to win the tournament back-to-back, following their earlier triumph in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

Amitabh Bachchan's Humorous Post Grabs Attention Online

Soon after the victory, Amitabh Bachchan shared a humorous reaction on social media that quickly went viral. The veteran actor revealed that he intentionally avoided watching the final match because he believes India tends to lose when he watches games live.

In a light-hearted post, Bachchan wrote in Hindi:

“कहा था नहीं देखूँगा तो जीत जाएँगे! हो गया!”

which translates to: "I said if I don’t watch, they will win — and it happened!"

The 83-year-old actor congratulated the players and expressed his happiness over the victory. He also shared celebratory images and admitted that the result made him emotional.

However, another post by Amitabh Bachchan soon became the centre of online discussion. In a separate tweet, he wrote:

T 5680 - We won! Now just keep quiet! No victory is greater than humility!

While the actor did not mention anyone directly, many social media users speculated that the comment might be aimed at India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, who has been both praised and criticised by fans despite the team's recent success.
