Milestone
Right, that's it for now. This is Rajarshi Das, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators, Pritam Dey, Dev Rajawat, and scorer/analyst, Bishal Mandal. See you tomorrow!
That's all we have for you from Day 2 of the One-off Test match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Join us right here on Crex at 10:30 AM IST (9:00 AM Local Time) for our coverage of Day 3, and in the meantime, do keep following us for a whole lot more!
Bangladesh won't be too pleased to have let the hosts off the hook after Tea, but with the new ball being available after one over on Day 3, their bowlers will be keen on making inroads early on. A stern test lies ahead for Ikram Alikhil and Rahmat Shah, both of whom have spent ample time at the crease today. It remains to be seen whether they can kick on from where they leave today.
Session Summary:

Morning Session: 21.3 overs, 63 runs, 3 wickets
Afternoon Session: 32 overs, 97 runs, 1 wicket
Evening Session: 34 overs, 80 runs, 2 wickets
6:46 PM IST, 5:16 PM Local Time: Almost 90 overs were bowled on Day 2, and the hosts will be happier of the two teams at the end of the day. They had to endure a tough passage of play right after Tea as Bangladesh eked out set batter Abdul Malik and Hashmatullah Shahidi in the space of five deliveries, but Rahmat Shah, the other set batter, fought on, and had an ally in Ikram Alikhil. Alikhil began on a positive note, but then slowed down completely, negotiating the Bangladesh spinners with great maturity and restraint.
Afghanistan's top order then went on to see off the new ball. While Sediqullah Atal (17 off 31) and Shahidullah Kamal (20 off 44) failed to make the most of their starts, Abdul Malik soldiered on, partnered by skipper Rahmat Shah. The duo went on to add 70 for the fourth wicket, and saw Afghanistan through to Tea. Bangladesh managed to break the stand in the first over after Tea as Ebadot Hossain got Malik to nick behind, and five balls later, Mehidy turned one past Hashmatullah Shahidi and had him stumped.
Bangladesh sensed a way back right then; they were vocal on the field, trying to put pressure on new batter Ikram Alikhil, but the Afghan wicketkeeper-batter steadily worked through the innings. He and Rahmat Shah were happy to play out spells from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan, not bothered by the lack of runs or boundaries. Both batters looked set as play drew to a close, with skipper Rahmat Shah batting on 84.

1 Length, outside off stump. Alikhil rocks back and slices this in front of point. He will retain strike with a single, and that'll be Stumps on Day 2!
