Bangladesh cricket has borne witness to several iconic batters over the years who carried the team in the longest format of the game. One such icon of the national cricket team is Mushfiqur Rahim, who is currently playing in the Bangladesh vs Pakistan second Test and has slammed a well-deserved century at 39 years of age.
As he salvaged the match for Bangladesh against Pakistan, he also placed himself on one of the rarest lists of Bangladesh cricketers with the most centuries in Test cricket.

5. Litton Das – 6 Test Centuries
Litton Das is one of the most naturally gifted batter Bangladesh has produced in the Test arena. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter possesses a rare elegance at the crease and what separates Litton from many of his contemporaries is his strike rate of 60.24, a rare stat among Bangladeshi Test batters.
His six Test centuries have come in as rare occassions rather than sustained consistency, and that remains the central criticism of his batting at the longest format.
There are matches where Litton looks utterly unplayable and then innings where he departs before converting a promising start. His highest score of 141 hints at the scale of performance he is capable of and he is justifying his form with the bat till now.

4. Najmul Hossain Shanto – 9 Test Centuries
Najmul Hossain Shanto has emerged as one of Bangladesh’s most dependable batters in Test cricket in recent years. Since making his debut in 2017, Shanto has scored 2530 runs from 41 Test matches and 77 innings at an average of 33.73 and a strike rate of 53.96.
The left-handed batter has already smashed nine Test centuries and six half-centuries, with his highest score being 163 against Sri Lanka.
Shanto also became the first Bangladesh batter to score centuries in both innings of a Test match twice, achieving the feat against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. As captain, he also holds the record for the most Test centuries by a Bangladesh skipper, surpassing Mushfiqur Rahim.
3. Tamim Iqbal – 10 Test Centuries
Tamim Iqbal remains one of Bangladesh’s greatest-ever opening batters in Test cricket history. During his illustrious career from 2008 to 2023, Tamim scored 5134 runs in 70 Test matches and 134 innings at an average of 38.89 and a strike rate of 57.99.
The left-handed opener smashed 10 centuries and 31 half-centuries, with his highest score being a magnificent 206 against Pakistan in 2015. Tamim Iqbal also became the first Bangladeshi batter to score a Test century at Lord’s with his iconic 103 against England in 2010.
He remains the only Bangladesh batter to score centuries in three consecutive Test matches and was also the fastest Bangladesh player to reach 1000 Test runs. With 655 boundaries and 41 sixes, Tamim defined an aggressive era of Bangladesh Test batting.
2. Mominul Haque – 13 Test Centuries
Mominul Haque has been one of Bangladesh’s finest Test batters and remains the leading century-maker for the country in the longest format. Since making his debut in 2013, Mominul has scored 5058 runs from 77 Test matches and 143 innings at an average of 38.03 and a strike rate of 54.13.
The left-handed batter has registered 13 centuries and 27 half-centuries, with his highest score being 181 against New Zealand. Popularly known as “The Little Master,” Mominul became the first Bangladeshi batter to cross the landmark of 10 Test centuries.
He also created history by scoring centuries in both innings of a Test match against Sri Lanka in 2018. Mominul additionally holds the unique record of scoring 11 consecutive fifty-plus scores in Test cricket, placing him among an elite group of world batters.
1. Mushfiqur Rahim – 14 Test Centuries
Mushfiqur Rahim remains the greatest Test batter in Bangladesh cricket history and the country’s highest-ever run-scorer in the longest format. Since making his debut in 2005, Mushfiqur has amassed over 6000 runs in 100+ Test matches.
The veteran batter has scored 14 Test centuries and 29 fifties, including a career-best unbeaten 219 against Zimbabwe. Mushfiqur also became the first Bangladeshi batter to score a Test double-century and remains the only player from the nation with three double hundreds in Tests.
The former wicketkeeper-batter was additionally the first Bangladeshi cricketer to play 100 Test matches. With 770 fours and 39 sixes, Mushfiqur has anchored Bangladesh’s batting lineup for over two decades with remarkable consistency and resilience.
