The fast-paced, international six-a-side cricket tournament Hong Kong Sixes 2026 finally came to an end, with Afghanistan making history in the final by defeating Australia.
The six-over-per-team tournament featured teams from across the cricketing globe, including powerhouses like England, Pakistan, South Africa, India, and Australia.
Twelve teams contested the 22nd edition from 30 October to 1 November, split into four groups of three, with the Cup, Plate and Bowl brackets dividing them by group position. India, captained by Krunal Pandya, finished 11th, winning one match out of their four.

Afghanistan won the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, defeating Australia by four wickets in the final at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Sunday, November 1.
It makes Afghanistan the eighth nation to lift the trophy and ends Pakistan's run of six titles, as they came into the weekend as defending champions.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Australia posted 115 in 6 overs, with Max Bryant smashing a blistering 44 off 14 deliveries, Nick Hobson contributing 23 off 8 balls and Alex Ross remaining unbeaten on 29 off 10 balls.
Nangeyalia Khan and Karim Janat picked up a wicket each to restrict Australia. In reply, Afghanistan suffered early setbacks as Karim Janat (13 off 5) and Gulbadin Naib (17 off 6) departed, but Imran Mir and Farmanullah Safi turned the game around with a sensational unbeaten partnership.
Imran led the charge with 53* off just 14 balls, including 7 sixes, while Farmanullah smashed an unbeaten 26 off 7 deliveries, featuring 4 sixes.
