Former India skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli, has broken numerous records in the ODIs. In most of these records, Kohli surpassed his idol and former legendary India batter, Sachin Tendulkar.

Currently, Kohli has 54 centuries to his name in the ODIs, the most by any batter in the entire 55-year history of the format. Meanwhile, he also holds the record for most ODI 100s against a single opponent, with 10 centuries against Sri Lanka.

Nevertheless, there are a few currently active batters who have scored a couple of ODI centuries against one team. Apart from these, some of the rising stars also have the potential to smash most hundreds against a single opponent in ODIs.

That said, here’s a look at the five batters who can surpass Virat Kohli to become the batter with the most ODI tons against one team.

5 Players who can break Virat Kohli’s record of most ODI 100s vs 1 team

Rohit Sharma - India

Former India skipper Rohit Sharma is the closest to Virat Kohli in the list of batters with the most ODI centuries against one team. Following Kohli’s 10 tons against the Islanders, Rohit has smashed nine centuries against Australia, until he played his most recent ODI against them in 2025.

Rohit might also get a chance to play against Australia in any home ODI series in future, which will give him an opportunity to surpass or break Kohli’s record. So, Rohit might become the batter with the most ODI centuries against one team.

Quinton de Kock - South Africa

The veteran Proteas opener, Quinton de Kock, has been in an amazing run of form with the bat since he came out of his retirement. He is also the joint-fourth batter in the list of those who have the most ODI hundreds against one team.

De Kock has scored seven centuries against India in ODIs, scoring 1,191 runs in 23 innings of the 23 games he has played against the Men in Blue. Against India, he is just four centuries away from breaking Kohli’s record of most centuries against one opponent in ODIs.

He might get a chance to achieve this feat as India and South Africa might play an ODI series or two before the ODI World Cup 2027.

Shubman Gill - India

India’s ODI skipper and star opener, Shubman Gill, has been one of the outstanding batting talents in the current generation. In his seven-year ODI career, he has scored 2,953 runs in 61 innings, with eight centuries and 17 half-centuries.

Out of his eight centuries, Gill has two centuries against Bangladesh and the same number of tons against New Zealand. Besides that, he has scored a century each against Australia, England, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.

Given his skill and consistency, Gill is capable of leaving Virat Kohli behind and achieving the milestone of most ODI 100s against one team.

Daryl Mitchell - New Zealand

The veteran New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell has been one of the biggest match-winners for his side in the last couple of years since he made his debut in 2021. He has scored 2,690 runs in 54 innings of the 59 ODIs he has played.

He has scored these runs at an amazing average of 58.47, hitting nine centuries and 12 half-centuries. Besides that, he has some amazing ODI numbers against India, scoring 741 runs in 11 innings of the 13 games at an outstanding average of 74.1.

He also has scored four centuries and two half-centuries against India and is in the race to break Virat Kohli’s record of most ODI centuries against one team.

Travis Head - Australia

The swashbuckling opener, Travis Head, is one of the most in-form batters for Australia since he won the ODI World Cup 2023 for his side with a title-winning century in the final.

Speaking of his more than eight-year-long ODI career, he has featured in 79 games, scoring 3,007 runs in 76 innings, with seven centuries and 17 half-centuries.

In these seven centuries, he has scored two tons each against England and Pakistan. Apart from that, he has scored one century each against India, New Zealand, and South Africa. The 32-year-old also has a couple of chances in the coming years to surpass Virat Kohli and achieve the record of most ODI 100s against one team.
