The thrilling summer evenings are coming back in the Indian sub-continent as the IPL 2026 is commencing in less than 10 days. As the 19th edition of the tournament is commencing on March 28, SRH faced massive heartbreak as two of the stars were ruled out of the tournament.

As Pat Cummins is all set to miss the start of the IPL 2026, young Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards is set to miss the entire tournament. Sunrisers Hyderabad secured Edwards’ service even before the young all-rounder made his T20I debut for Australia.

SRH had hoped Jack Edwards would add more balance to their all-round unit, but his injury came as a huge blow even before he could take the field. Even in Pat Cummins and Jack Edwards’ absence, the franchise still has a strong overseas base. Apart from them, here is an overview of how other foreign players can fit into the playing XI.

1. Travis Head

The cricket world knows Travis Head’s destructive power, and the Australian opener remains one of SRH’s biggest strengths. Joining the franchise in 2024, the batter showcased his batting brilliance as his opening stand with Abhishek Sharma often puts the opponent bowlers on backfoot.

Known for his aggressive batting and stunning pull and hook shots, Travis Head can put any bowling attack under serious pressure with his big hitting. Since he joined SRH, the franchise got a massive strength in the top order as his rapid scoring ability often give the team a dreamy start.

In the last season, he played 13 matches and scored 374 runs with a strike rate of 162.60. His partnership with Abhishek Sharma has already produced some outstanding stands, and with the new season approaching, SRH are likely to continue with Head as Abhishek’s opening partner.

2. Heinrich Klaasen

Since the last few seasons, ace South African wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen has been an integral part of SRH. Just not with his batting dominance, his swift reflexes behind the stumps have also been a massive asset for the franchise.

Even though the franchise struggled a little in the last edition, Klassen rolled up his sleeves and unleashed fireworks. In the last season, he played 14 games and scored 487 runs and batted with a whopping strike rate of 172.69.

Having him in the middle order is a massive asset for the side, as his effortlessness against both spin and pace gives them an edge. His six-hitting ability and exceptional finishing skills make him a dangerous force in the lineup.

3. Liam Livingstone

After RCB parted ways with Liam Livingstone, SRH didn’t lose the chance as they named the ace English all-rounder to their squad with a whopping amount of 13 crore. His arrival has given the franchise a major boost in the middle order, adding explosive batting and valuable all-round strength to the side.

Donning the RCB jersey last year, he struggled with the bat, yet played some crucial knocks in a few games. In 10 matches, he scored 112 runs with just one half-century. With his brief role with the ball, he only secured two wickets.

With his power-hitting abilities, he adds value to SRH’s middle order as his finishing style can be crucial for the side. He can also make an impact in the middle overs with his handy spin and knack for picking up important wickets. In Jack Edwards’ absence, Livingstone could prove to be a strong weapon for the side.

4. Brydon Carse

After missing out on the entire IPL 2025 season due to an injury setback, Brydon Carse is all set to be back in the SRH colors this year. The ace English pacer is yet to make his IPL debut, but his impressive T20I stats are backing him as a potential overseas option in Pat Cummins’ absence.

With his clinical pace, he emerged as a game-changer when he comes to action after the first change. In the middle and death overs, he can trouble batters and deliver crucial wickets when the team needs them most.

In 14 T20I games, he secured 20 wickets with an economy rate of 9.22. With Pat Cummins set to miss the initial phase, Brydon Carse could be a strong overseas option for SRH to bolster their pace attack in the playing XI.
