The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has finally come to an end with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifting their second IPL trophy after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31.

The tournament witnessed several outstanding performances from players who carried their teams on their shoulders and played crucial roles in their franchises' success.

However, IPL 2026 was also a season where several established stars failed to justify expectations.

Based on overall performance, consistency, impact, and expectations, here is Crex's Flop XI of IPL 2026.

Flop XI Of The Tournament Of IPL 2026

The team includes players from Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants.

Hardik Pandya has been named captain of this XI after a difficult season both as a player and leader.

Openers and Top-Order Batters: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Priyansh Arya and Suryakumar Yadav

Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)

  • CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had a challenging season in IPL 2026. As one of the most reliable batters in the tournament over the last few years, expectations were extremely high from the CSK skipper.
  • However, he managed only 337 runs in 14 innings at an average of 28.08 and a strike rate of 123.44. Although he scored two half-centuries, he was unable to consistently provide strong starts at the top of the order.

Priyansh Arya (PBKS)

  • Priyansh Arya entered IPL 2026 after an impressive breakthrough season in 2025, where he scored 475 runs in 17 matches and emerged as one of Punjab Kings' most exciting young batters.
  • While his strike rate of 211.63 in IPL 2026 appears impressive on paper, his overall contribution was inconsistent. He scored 364 runs in 13 matches at an average of 28.00.

Suryakumar Yadav (MI)

  • One of the biggest surprises of IPL 2026 was the poor form of Suryakumar Yadav. The Mumbai Indians star, who has been one of the most destructive T20 batters, struggled throughout the competition.
  • He scored just 270 runs in 13 innings at an average of 20.76 and a strike rate of 147.54.

Middle Order and All-Rounders: Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shashank Singh, Marco Jansen and Hardik Pandya

Nicholas Pooran (LSG)

  • Nicholas Pooran was retained by Lucknow Super Giants as one of their biggest match-winners, but the explosive player had a forgettable season.
  • Pooran scored only 234 runs at an average of 18 and a strike rate of 127.87. For a batter known for clearing boundaries with ease and changing games single-handedly, these numbers were far below expectations.

Rishabh Pant (LSG)

  • Rishabh Pant's IPL 2026 season never truly got going. The LSG captain scored 312 runs in 14 innings at an average of 28.36 and a strike rate of 138.05.
  • As the most expensive player in IPL history, Pant entered the tournament under enormous pressure; however, he struggled for consistency for most of the season.

Shashank Singh (PBKS)

  • Shashank Singh was one of Punjab Kings’ heroes in previous seasons, but IPL 2026 proved to be a difficult year.
  • He scored just 132 runs in nine innings despite maintaining a strike rate of 188.57. More importantly, he struggled in the field and was criticised for dropping crucial catches at important moments.
  • His inability to make a meaningful impact with either bat or in the field earns him a place in the flop XI of IPL 2026.

Marco Jansen (PBKS)

  • Punjab Kings all-rounder Marco Jansen also had a season to forget. The South African managed only 9 wickets in 12 innings at an average of 53.66 and an economy rate of 10.20.
  • Known for generating bounce and movement with the new ball, Jansen failed to consistently trouble opposition batters.

Hardik Pandya (Captain, MI)

Hardik Pandya leads this flop XI of IPL 2026 after a disastrous campaign with Mumbai Indians.

  • The five-time champions won only four matches and finished ninth in the standings. Pandya failed to inspire the team as captain and also struggled individually. With the bat, he scored just 206 runs in 10 innings at an average of 22.88 and a strike rate of 138.25.
  • His bowling performance was equally disappointing. In 10 matches, he picked up only four wickets while conceding runs at an economy rate of 11.42.

Bowlers: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh

Axar Patel (DC)

  • Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel experienced a mixed season, but overall he failed to make the impact expected from an all-rounder.
  • He scored 173 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 131.06 and picked up 11 wickets with an economy rate of 8.18.

Kuldeep Yadav (DC)

  • Kuldeep Yadav struggled to maintain his usual effectiveness during IPL 2026. The left-arm wrist spinner picked up only 10 wickets in 12 matches and finished with a high economy rate of 10.29.
  • Retained for ₹13.25 crore, Kuldeep was expected to lead Delhi's spin attack. Instead, he often leaked runs and failed to provide crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI)

Perhaps the most shocking inclusion in flop XI of IPL 2026 is Jasprit Bumrah.

  • Widely regarded as one of the best T20 bowlers in the world, Jasprit Bumrah managed only four wickets in 13 matches.
  • He finished with a bowling average of 102.50, one of the worst figures recorded by a bowler who completed more than 40 overs in a single IPL season.

Arshdeep Singh (PBKS)

Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh completes the Flop XI of IPL 2026.

  • The left-arm fast bowler picked up 14 wickets in 14 matches but conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.21 while averaging 38.64.
  • Although he produced occasional standout performances, but he struggled for consistency. Frequent wides, no-balls, and expensive spells hurt Punjab Kings throughout the season.
