Another wicket-keeper batsman, Lasith Abeyratne is a Sri Lankan first-class cricketer. He alongside Roshan Anurudda hold a splendid record for the highest seventh-wicket partnership in any form of T20 cricket when the duo scored an unbeaten 107 in a domestic match in Sri Lanka.
Born in Colombo, the wicketkeeper-batter completed his education from D.S. Senanayake College. He has also donned the Sri Lankan colours at the U-19 level. He has represented various teams ranging from Saracens Sports Club, Victoria Sporting Club, Sri Lanka Emerging Team, Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, Colombo District, et al since his domestic debut.
The keeper-batter made his maiden First-Class appearance when he received the honours of playing the Premier League Tournament Tier A, back in March 2011. The following year, he made his List A debut during the Premier Limited Over Tournament in December 2012. Three years later, he earned his T20 cap in the local T20 competition, in April 2015.
Since his debut, the Colombo-born has improved both his batting and keeping work. As of August 2021, he has played close to 80 FC games to score over 4600 runs, including his best of 234*. Apart from that, he has the experience of more than 100 limited-overs matches where he piled more than 1300 runs. The keeper has also notched 13 centuries and bagged over 200 dismissals to his name.
In August 2021, Abeyratne was named to the SLC Reds team for the SLC Invitational T20 League tournament. If tapped well, the wicket-keeper batsman has the potential to serve Sri Lanka at the highest level, across all formats.
