A solid right-handed middle-order batter, Charlie Oliver Thurston is an English cricketer who plays for Northamptonshire in the English County Championship.
He was fast-tracked from an early age and was the star player for the Shenley Village Cricket Club. In 2010, Thurston was rewarded with two trophies by the Hertfordshire County Cricket Association. He was simply phenomenal in 2010 and helped his county side get promoted to the second division.
He caught the attention of Middlesex team management and they decided to rope him. The talented youngster was a part of the Middlesex junior team and played for their second XI eventually. It wasn’t until 2016 that Thurston got a taste of Championship cricket. He was handed a debut by Loughborough MCCU against Surrey in 2016.
Two years later, the Cambridge born was handed his maiden List-A cap by the Northants against Leeds. He made an immediate impact, scoring a gritty half-century on his debut.
A swashbuckling batter, Thurston was once considered by many as the future of English cricket. But so far, he has disappointed at all levels of the game. Having played in all three formats, Thurston is still unsure about his place in the Northamptonshire side.
