A fearless young batter with an aggressive style, Aniket Verma has quickly emerged as an exciting prospect in Indian cricket. Known for his explosive stroke play, he first grabbed attention with a century against Karnataka’s U-23 team in the Men’s Under-23 One Day Inter-State tournament, followed by another standout performance in the All-India Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament.

His dominance in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League (MPPL), where he amassed 244 runs at a staggering strike rate of 205.4, further cemented his reputation as a hard-hitting batter.

Aniket Verma Early Struggles

Aniket Verma's early life has been marked by significant struggle. Unfortunately, he lost his mother when he was just three years old. After that, his father remarried, and his grandmother, Parvati Verma, moved with him to Bhopal along with his uncle, Amit Verma. His grandmother raised him like a mother, and even today, he calls her “Mummy” because that’s what his uncle used to call her.

Following this tragedy, his uncle, Amit Verma, also stepped in to raise him and provided the encouragement he needed to move forward.

His uncle harboured a dream of seeing him become a cricketer. Under the guidance of coach Nandjit in Bhopal, Aniket spent countless hours practising. There were times when he would toil on the field for up to 10 hours a day, pouring his sweat and effort into making his dreams a reality. 

Aniket Verma IPL Career

Recognising his immense potential, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured Aniket Verma at the IPL 2025 mega auction, adding firepower to their lineup.

Around the same time, he made his domestic T20 debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Shortly after, he showcased his talent in an intra-squad match for SRH, smashing 46 runs off just 16 balls, demonstrating his ability to take on top-quality bowlers with ease.

Playing his maiden season, Verma scored his maiden fifty on March 30, 2025, against Delhi Capitals, making 74 off 41 balls. The Jhansi boy saved SRH from a 37/4 collapse, featuring 6 sixes in his innings to become a breakout star of IPL 2025.

While primarily a batter, he also possesses the ability to bowl medium pace, making him a valuable all-round asset.
