Player Bio

Saima Thakor, is a prolific right-arm medium-pacer, who represents Uttar Pradesh Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She was born on September 13, 1996, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and eventually represented Mumbai Women’s team in domestic cricket. 

In her childhood, she fell for football, her goal-keeping was a wall for the opponent to break. Gradually, the connection of Mumbai and cricket pulled Thakor towards the 22-yard pitch. She developed her fast bowling skills and became proficient in seam and swing tactics.  

She soon was selected for Mumbai’s Women's team and kicked off her professional career. She was persistent throughout her tenure, she kept on delivering commendable performances. Her ability to control her line and length and play with her skilled variations made her an asset to the team. 

She was acquired by the UP Warriorz at her base price, INR 10 lakh, in February 2024, for the subsequent WPL season. This milestone allowed her to compete alongside the best players across the globe.

In August 2024, Thakor was named as a traveling reserve for the Indian women's team in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. Later, she made her ODI debut was against New Zealand on October 24, 2024, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. She made an immediate impact grabbing two wickets, contributing to the team's victory. 

She set a record ninth-wicket partnership with Radha Yadav of 70 runs -- the highest ninth-wicket partnership for India in women’s ODIs.

On December 15, 2024, she made her debut in the shortest format against West Indies Women at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. On her T20I debut, Thakor dismissed Qiana Joseph, making it memorable.

As a right-arm medium pacer, she has possessed the ability to generate swing with the ball and play with the variations. She adds depth to the batting line-up as well, knowing her batting records, she can do a phenomenal job with the bat as well.
