Picked by the Chennai Super Kings, Mohit Sharma flourished under the leadership of MS Dhoni who made good use of him with both new and old balls. Sharma used his variations sparingly and was highly successful in the first two years of his IPL career picking up 20 wickets in his debut IPL season in 2013 and 23 in IPL 2014. He won the Purple Cap in 2014 by finishing as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
