Player Bio

A tall, well-built fast bowler with genuine pace, Wes Agar is a professional cricketer for South Australia who first secured a rookie contract for the 2016-17 season after strong performances in the U-19 National Championships. A son of a former Australian cricketer, John, cricket runs in Agar’s blood. He is the brother of all-rounder Ashton Agar, who has represented Australia in all three formats.

Originally from Melbourne, the paceman previously played for Monash Tigers in Victorian Premier Cricket and moved to South Australia before the 2015-16 season, joining up with grade side Adelaide University. Wes made his Big Bash League(BBL) debut in the sixth edition of the premier tournament, playing for Adelaide Strikers and famously went head to head against his own brother who played for the Perth Scorchers.

A graduate of the National Performance squad, the Malvern-born pacer starred for South Australia at the 2015 U-19 National Championships with 10 wickets in the tournament, including 5/37 against Tasmania. Wes has dazzled in homegrown T20s and his exploits in the domestic circuit earned him his maiden call-up for the Baggy Greens for the limited-overs series against West Indies.

Preparing alongside Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will be a massive learning curve for the young speedster. The speedster from Victoria has all the tools to be an upcoming star for the Aussies in the future.
