Litton Das Injury Timeline In 2026 (Source: Web)
2026 has been a year of contradictions for Litton Das. The Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter reached major milestones, completing 9,000 international runs and equalling Mushfiqur Rahim's record for the most international centuries by a Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter. He was also appointed Bangladesh's ODI captain in late July.
However, recurring injuries have repeatedly disrupted his advancement. A calf strain forced him to miss multiple assignments earlier in the year, while a hip injury later ruled him out of the UAE ODI tri-series and raised doubts over his availability for the West Indies Test series.
Even after returning to the playing XI, Litton faced another concern after being struck by Jayden Seales during the first Test against West Indies.
Thus, Litton's fitness has remained a major talking point throughout 2026. Here is a timeline of Litton Das' injuries in 2026, including the setbacks he faced and the matches and tournaments he missed.
1. June 14, 2026: Left Calf Injury During Australia ODI Series
Litton Das’ injury troubles began when he first suffered a left calf injury while batting in the third ODI against Australia on June 14.
He briefly left the field but returned to score 58 off 78 balls. Medical assessments later confirmed a Grade 1 calf strain, ruling him out of the subsequent T20I series against Australia.
2. June 28, 2026: Ruled Out Of BAN vs ZIM One-Off Test
Litton's calf injury continued to trouble him, forcing him to miss Bangladesh's one-off Test against Zimbabwe, which began on June 28 in Harare.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical team concluded that he would struggle to regain match fitness in time. Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan was called up as his replacement.
3. July 6-11, 2026: Missed BAN vs ZIM ODI Series
Although Litton travelled with Bangladesh for the Zimbabwe tour, he was not fit enough to feature in the ODI series.
After missing the opening match, he failed to clear a fitness test ahead of the remaining games. The BCB released him from the squad, with Parvez Hossain Emon named as his replacement.
4. July 14, 2026: Withdrew From Lanka Premier League
Litton's recovery did not progress as expected, forcing him to withdraw from the 2026 Lanka Premier League (LPL). He had been cleared to play for Galle Gallants but remained in Dhaka to continue rehabilitation.
The decision came after he missed Bangladesh's Australia T20Is and Zimbabwe tour because of his calf injury.
5. August 1, 2026: Recovered and Returned To Bangladesh's Australia Test Squad
After weeks of rehabilitation, Litton made a timely recovery from his left calf injury. The BCB confirmed on August 1 that he had progressed well enough to join Bangladesh's squad for the first Test against Australia, beginning August 13 in Darwin. He subsequently featured in the two-match Test series.
6. October 16-17, 2026: Fresh Injury In Right Hip Ruled Him Out Of UAE ODI Tri-Series
Litton suffered another setback after reporting discomfort in his right hip joint following Bangladesh's one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.
An MRI revealed an issue, and he failed to meet the required fitness benchmark. The injury ruled him out of the UAE tri-series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, delaying his first assignment as full-time ODI captain.
7. October 19-28, 2026: Hip Injury Threatened His Availability For West Indies Test
After returning to Bangladesh, Litton underwent medical assessments and physiotherapy for his hip injury. Initial reports raised doubts over his availability for the first Test against West Indies, which began on October 28.
However, he recovered sufficiently to return to Bangladesh's playing XI for the opening Test in Mirpur.
8. October 29, 2026: Elbow Contusion After Being Struck By Jayden Seales
Litton Das faced another injury scare during Bangladesh's first Test against West Indies when a delivery from fast bowler Jayden Seales struck him on the elbow.
The blow resulted in an elbow contusion, adding to his recent injury problems. The incident raised fresh concerns about his fitness as Bangladesh continued the Test match.
