In a major blow for Bangladesh, team captain Litton Das has been ruled out of the entire UAE ODI tri-series. The cricketer also missed Bangladesh’s opening match of the series against Zimbabwe on October 17 in Abu Dhabi.

In the absence of the senior wicketkeeper-batter, prolific top-order batter Towhid Hridoy took charge of his national side.

Litton Das ruled out of the tri-series owing to an injury

Bangladesh captain Litton Das did not feature in the playing XI of his team’s opening match of the 2026 ODI tri-series in the UAE on October 17 against Zimbabwe. At the toss, interim captain Towhid Hridoy explained that the senior wicketkeeper-batter was suffering from “some injury issues”.

It now appears that the 32-year-old has been ruled out of the entire ODI tri-series in the UAE. As per reports, the cricketer sustained a hip injury and will not be available to take field for the next few weeks.

Notably, this is not the first injury that has hampered Litton Das’ journey in international cricket in the past few months. Only recently, the cricketer recovered from a calf injury and was included in the Bangladesh squad for their historic two-match Test tour of Australia.

Prior to that, he was forced to miss Bangladesh’s entire all-format tour of Zimbabwe back in June and July this year. The charismatic right-handed batter was later replaced by Mahidul Islam Ankon in the Bangladesh Test side and by Parvez Hossain Emon in the team’s ODI setup.

Litton Das urged teammates to be more “responsible” just before injury setback

Just a day before sustaining his hip injury and getting ruled out of the tri-series, Bangladesh captain Litton Das had urged his batting teammates to take “more responsibility” in their approach in ODI cricket.

Lamenting Bangladesh’s recent setbacks against Afghanistan in the UAE and against Zimbabwe away from home, the senior batter asked his colleagues to try and bat out their 50-overs.

The seasoned pro also claimed that his team has the ability of learning from its past mistakes by being more positive in their batting approach in the ongoing ODI tri-series in the UAE.

While Litton Das may have suffered an injury, the cricketer will be hoping that his teammates can carry forward his message of responsibility and make the most of the opportunities presented to them in his absence.
