- The trend continued in the second game against the Strikers as Babar scored just 9 runs and had back-to-back failures in the mega tournament in Australia. - It was then followed by two back-to-back failures as Babar was dismissed for 2, and 14 against Heat and Stars, respectively.
- Sixers’ breaking point came when Babar played a sluggish knock of 47 of 39 against Thunder, and mid-game, Steve Smith denied him a single as the batter faced humiliation. After which, there were two more failures against Heat and Scorchers as he ended the tournament with a string of failures.'
Who will replace Babar for remaining matches?
Sydney Sixers is set to play in the Challenger on Friday, and if they win the game, the team will reach the finals. Hence, technically, they can still play two more matches in BBL. Steve Smith is already locked in as one opener, and he has already racked up a century in the tournament.
Now, with Babar gone, the team is likely to bring in Daniel Hughes, who will offer a left-handed variation and will complement Smith as an opening partner for the remaining games.
