The third season of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), starting October 3, will feature legends like AB de Villiers alongside stars of yesteryear such as David Warner, Yuvraj Singh, and Dwayne Bravo, to name a few.

The ICC Hall of Fame inductee, who scored 20014 runs for South Africa in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. He also played in several franchise T20 leagues across the globe, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), and the Big Bash League (BBL).

However, de Villiers, famously known as Mr. 360, lost the motivation to continue playing cricket and called time on his career on November 19, 2021.

A look at AB de Villiers stats in franchise cricket before international retirement

By the end of his career, he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2021 Indian Premier League. He had a successful T20 career, playing 340 matches and scoring 9424 runs at a strike-rate of 150.13.

Moreover, the 42-year-old returned to the veterans' league in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 edition, where he led South Africa to the title, and will feature in the upcoming 2026 edition as well.

AB de Villiers's IPL stats

The swashbuckling batter made his IPL debut in 2008. Before retiring in 2021, he played 184 matches in his IPL career and has scored 5,162 runs, with an average of 39.70. In his IPL career, he played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

ABD last played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2021 IPL, where he scored 313 runs in 15 matches. While he continued to play in T20 leagues around the world following his international retirement, he played the most in the IPL.

Since beginning his association with the franchise in 2011, de Villiers played 157 matches for them and scored 4522 runs at a strike rate of 158.33. To date, he is also the franchise's second-highest run-scorer of all time, behind Virat Kohli.

Coming back to his overall IPL stats, he had also slammed 3 centuries and 40 half-centuries, with his highest IPL score being 133* runs. 

The South African batter had hit 413 fours and 251 sixes in his IPL career. In October 2021, he played his last IPL match against KKR at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, scoring 11 runs off 9 balls.
