RCB pip Delhi Capitals in high-scoring thriller to lift WPL 2026
As it happened, RCB Women’s bowlers conceded 203 runs to perennial underachievers Delhi Capitals upfront after opting to field first. Despite going wicketless, in-form fast bowler Lauren Bell unfurled the spell of the high-scoring innings with impressive figures of 0-19 in four overs.
In response, Smriti Mandhana and number three Georgia Voll overcame the early loss of opener Grace Harris by sharing a counterattacking 165-run partnership for the second wicket. Mandhana top-scored in the innings by whacking 87 off 41 balls with 12 cracking boundaries and three huge sixes.
Voll also smeared a boundary-laden 54-ball 79 before Nadine de Klerk and Radha Yadav notched up the winning runs together in a thrilling last-over finish.
The outcome gave the RCB Women’s team its second WPL title in the last three editions of the tournament.
Virat Kohli preps for IPL 2026
With WPL 2026 euphoria done and dusted, Virat Kohli himself has an IPL season to look forward to alongside his RCB teammates. For the first time in his illustrious career, the legendary Indian batter will head into an IPL season carrying the tag of “defending champions”, considering the RCB Men’s side also lifted the silverware last year during the 2025 IPL season.
Prior to the IPL 2026 auction, Kohli was retained by the franchise alongside the likes of captain Rajat Patidar, all-rounder Krunal Pandya, blistering wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma, senior fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, West Indies import Romario Shepherd and several others.
As per a tentative schedule, the IPL 2026 season will likely launch in mid-March next month. The tournament is lined up to commence shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
