Delhi Capitals Women clinch a crucial victory
Since the beginning of the season, the Delhi Capitals Women have been struggling hard with their form, but they showcased excellence in their last match against the Mumbai Indians. Winning the toss and choosing to bowl first proved to be a masterstroke, giving them the edge in the game.
After Nandini Sharma and Marizanne Kapp gave a thrilling start, Shree Charani became an unsolved puzzle for the MI batters. Even as captain Harmanpreet Kaur built a vital partnership with Nat Sciver-Brunt, Charani struck, dismissing Kaur for 41, and DC restricted the innings to 154 despite Brunt’s unbeaten 65.
Chasing down the total, DC women got a desired start, but Shafali Verma walked away scoring 29 runs. After Laura Wolvaardt returned, scoring 17 runs, and Lizelle Lee missed a well-deserved half-century by four runs, captain Jemimah Rodrigues led the side from the front.
Dominating the MI bowlers, she played an unbeaten knock of 51 runs in 37 balls, featuring five boundaries and one six. Depending on this brave knock, the Delhi Capitals chased down the total with 19 overs and registered a convincing 7-wicket victory.
