Talismanic Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma added another feather to his cap, as he joined the likes of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar on an elite batting list.
The former captain attained a remarkable milestone in the second ODI between India and Afghanistan.
Led by Shubman Gill, India are facing Afghanistan in the penultimate affair of the ongoing three-match home series.
Rohit Sharma, who departed for a low score in the series opener, bounced back in the crucial clash, providing the hosts with a quick-fire start alongside skipper Gill.
Thus, Rohit achieved a phenomenal milestone and joined Indian greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid on a special list.
Rohit Sharma completes 14000 List-A runs
Legendary batter Rohit Sharma has been a vital cog in the Indian ODI setup since being promoted to the top-order.
The second ODI between India and Afghanistan demanded a spirited effort from Rohit, who had endured a failure in the first game of the series in Dharamsala.
After Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bowl first, India lost the early wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, Rohit formed a valiant stand of 87 runs with Shubman Gill, forming a steady stand for the second wicket.

In this process, he completed 14000 runs in List-A cricket, joining Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid on the list of Indian batters who have done it in the past.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is placed second, having amassed 16447 runs in 334 innings. The talismanic trio of Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma claims the subsequent positions.
Talking about Rohit, the veteran opener has 14038 runs in List-A cricket. He made his List-A debut for West Zone against Central Zone back in 2006, and it took him approximately one year and three months to play his first ODI for India.
Who has scored most runs in List-A cricket?
Rohit is fifth on the list of Indian batters with most runs in List-A cricket. However, overall, England legend Graham Gooch is the most successful batter in List-A history.
He made his debut way back in 1973 and finished his 16-year-long career with 22211 runs. Interestingly, Gooch hammered 44 List-A hundreds in 601 innings, while Rohit has already raced to 37 centuries across 344 outings in the format. Overall, Rohit Sharma occupies the 26th position on the list dominated by English batters.

Despite breaching the elite 14000-run mark in List-A cricket, Rohit Sharma failed to convert his start into a significant score. He batted brilliantly for a quick-fire 39-ball 48, with the help of six boundaries and two sixes, before Rashid Khan castled him with a ripper.
After Rohit's dismissal, Ishan Kishan joined captain Shubman Gill in the middle. As of writing, India were 168 for two in 23 overs, with Gill and Ishan batting on 78* and 36*, respectively.
