Why Is Virat Kohli Not Playing IND vs AFG ODIs?
Virat Kohli is not playing the ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan because of a hamstring injury he suffered during the IPL 2026 final.
Kohli picked up the injury while batting for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Gujarat Titans in the IPL final. Although he looked uncomfortable during the match, he continued batting and scored an impressive half-century.
At first, the injury did not appear to be serious. However, medical reports later revealed that Kohli had suffered a Distal Semimembranosus Tendon Tear, a rare hamstring injury that affects the tendon near the back of the knee.
A distal semimembranosus tendon tear is a rupture of the lower hamstring tendon located near the knee. Recovery from this type of injury can take time, depending on its severity.
