The RCB Women’s team crushed Gujarat Giants by 61 runs to register their fifth straight win this WPL 2026 season, thus qualifying for the playoffs in the process. The outcome also marked one of the biggest win margins in the history of WPL, and the biggest by the RCB franchise so far since the inaugural edition of the tournament back in 2023.

Uncapped Indian cricketer Gautami Naik bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for her batting heroics in the game. Batting at number four, the 27-year-old punched out an elegant 73 from 55 balls to lift the RCB Women’s team from a precarious 10-2 to an imposing 178-6. The likes of Sayali Satghare and Nadine de Klerk also hogged the limelight with the ball as RCB’s NRR received another significant boost to jump up to 1.882.

RCB register biggest win of WPL 2026 season, fourth biggest overall

The RCB franchise, under the leadership of Smriti Mandhana, blanked Gujarat Giants by 61 runs in Vadodara on Sunday, January 19. In the process, the RCB Women’s team also recorded its biggest-ever margin of victory in WPL history, bettering their 32-run outcome against the same opponents just a couple of days ago in Navi Mumbai last week.

Moreover, RCB’s 61-run victory over Gujarat Giants now marks the fourth highest in the history of WPL overall, surpassing Delhi Capitals’ 60-run triumph over RCB at the Brabourne Stadium back in March 2023. Here is a look at five of the highest margin of victories, in terms of runs, ever recorded in WPL history.

Biggest Wins in WPL (By Runs):

  • 143 by MI vs GG, Mumbai (DY Patil), 2023
  • 81 by GG vs UPW, Lucknow, 2025
  • 72 by MI vs UPW, Mumbai (DY Patil), 2023
  • 61 by RCB vs GG, Vadodara, 2026
  • 60 by DC vs RCB, Mumbai (Brabourne), 2023

RCB becomes first team to qualify for WPL 2026 playoffs

The RCB Women’s team also became the first side to qualify for the playoffs of the WPL 2026 season. With five wins in five games, they are the only unbeaten side so far and are fittingly placed at the top of the five-team points table. RCB’s NRR also reads a formidable 1.882 at the moment.

Heading into the second half of the season, the RCB Women’s team needs to win just one more match in their remaining three games to ensure a top spot and a place in the final for themselves by the end of the league stage.

After humbling defending champions Mumbai Indians, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants (twice) and UP Warriorz, the Smriti Mandhana-led side will now once again go up against the Capitals in match number 15 of the WPL 2026 season. The match will be hosted by the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on January 24, thus giving the team a five-day breather between games.

The RCB Women’s team will subsequently face Mumbai Indians on January 26 and UP Warriorz Women on January 29 to cap their league stage run.
