Khushi Mukherjee breaks silence on ₹100 Crore defamation row linked to Suryakumar Yadav

Actress and social media influencer Khushi Mukherjee has finally decided to speak out about the reports of her involvement in an INR 100 crore defamation lawsuit regarding her statements about Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav.

The controversy sparked online, drawing reactions from fans, influencers, and media platforms. 

Khushi Mukherjee denies defamation charges

Interacting with the media, Khushi Mukherjee clarified that her statements were misconstrued and that she never intended to defame the Indian T20I team captain.

Responding to the situation, Khushi has confessed that maybe her statement was not required but that she did not mean anything negative by it.

"Mere moonh se baat nikal gayi ki haan, baat hoti thi, shayad nahi nikalna chahiye tha. Par usmein defamation wali koi baat nahi thi," she told Instabollywood.

She clarified that she had merely acknowledged that she and Suryakumar Yadav had spoken in the past and nothing beyond that.

She also stated that she has not received any legal notice so far. According to her, television debates and social media discussions exaggerated the matter far beyond reality. 

Khushi claimed that such controversies are often fuelled when news cycles slow down.

"No legal notice has reached me. Aisa koi legal notice ya yeh sab kuch mere paas aaya nahi hai. News channels ke paas," she added.

How did the controversy begin?

The issue started when Khushi Mukherjee, during a public interaction, said that Suryakumar Yadav “used to message her a lot”, while clearly stating there was never a romantic relationship between them. 

Despite this clarification, the comment went viral within hours. With the T20 World Cup drawing closer and Suryakumar being the Indian team captain, the timing of the controversy is a point of concern for fans.

The remark was felt by many as creating unnecessary distraction in the team environment. Shortly after, influencer Faizan Ansari revealed that a Rs 100 Crore defamation suit has been filed against Khushi.

Khushi later clarified in another interview that her words were taken out of context and amplified without full understanding. She reiterated that talking to someone as a friend should not be twisted into something else.

Suryakumar Yadav is already married

That being said, Suryakumar Yadav is married to Devisha Shetty, his longtime partner and college sweetheart. The couple met in Mumbai in 2010 during their college days, long before Suryakumar became a regular name in Indian cricket. 

What began as a simple friendship slowly turned into a strong relationship built on trust, patience, and mutual support. After dating for several years, Suryakumar and Devisha got married in July 2016 in a traditional and intimate ceremony. 

At the time, Suryakumar Yadav was still working his way up in domestic cricket and the IPL, while Devisha was focused on her career.

Devisha then continued her passion for baking. She is often seen supporting Suryakumar from the stands during matches. 

Their marriage is admired for its simplicity, stability, and the quiet strength they bring to each other’s lives.
