First Class records went for a toss on February 17 in the President's Trophy Grade-I 2025/26 in Pakistan as Pakistan Television faced Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited in match 15 of the competition at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.
Bowling in the fourth innings, PTV defended a world record lowest target of 40 runs from an unlikely scenario to clinch the match by 2 runs and toppled one of the oldest FC records, which was set 231 years ago in England, to etch their name in the history books.
PTV script history with the lowest FC total defended
Pakistan TV, led by Shamyl Hussain, forever added their name to the first-class records by defending a mere target of 40 runs as SNGP found themselves in a miserable situation in the ongoing President's Trophy Grade-I in Pakistan. This broke Oldfield's record of defending 41 runs against Marylebone Cricket Club back in 1794.

SNGP's embarrassing 37 all out
While batting first, PTV was dominated by Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd.'s opening bowlers, Shehzad Gul and Shahnawaz Dahani, who cleaned up the batting order with 4/40 (16.2) and 2/23 (15), respectively. Alongside them, off-break bowler Sajid Khan also got 2/75 (23) as PTV got bowled out for 166, despite Mohammad Taha's 38(129) and Amad Butt's 46*(64).
SNGP also gained a healthy 72-run first innings lead through Omair Yousuf's 42(65) and Saifullah Bangash's 71(104) amid Ali Usman's 4/66 alongside Butt's 3/42, before PTV struggled with the bat again and got bundled for 111 runs with Gul's 5/28 leading SNGP's charge.
Led by Pakistan's Test captain Shan Masood, SNGP found themselves in a prime position to win the match and potentially go top of the table by overtaking Water and Power Development Authority's 74 points. However, PTV suffered a historic capitulation at the hands of Ali Usman's 6/9 (9/4) and Butt's 4/28 (10) and got bowled out for an embarrassing figure of 37 runs in 19.4 overs.
Captain Masood fell for a two-ball duck to Usman. While Bangash tried to take his team through with a fighting 14(35), they eventually fell short by 2 wickets as history was rewritten.
