Saint Lucia Kings defeated Jamaica Kingsmen by 6 wickets in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet on Friday (August 21).
Kamil Pooran led the chase with an unbeaten 81 off 49 balls, while Matthew Forde produced a crucial spell, taking five wickets for 23 runs at an economy rate of 5.75.
Saint Lucia Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. Forde made the decision look right almost immediately, taking four wickets inside the powerplay as Jamaica Kingsmen slipped to 54/5.
Matthew Forde Creates History With 5-Wicket Haul
It is important to note that Forde completed his four-over spell with five wickets for 23 runs. His effort was especially important because Jamaica were in serious trouble early in their innings.
Usman Khan gave the Kingsmen some quick runs with 28 off 11 balls, while Andre Russell added 25 off 15 balls with three sixes. Keacy Carty held the innings together and made 50 runs off 45 balls, and Odean Smith finished strongly with an unbeaten 27 off 17 balls.
Those late contributions helped Jamaica reach 169/9 in 20 overs.
Best Bowling Figures For St Lucia Franchise In CPL History
Matthew Forde's five-wicket haul moved him into an elite group of Saint Lucia franchise bowlers. It is worth noting that he has the best bowling figures for St Lucia Kings.
But the the best bowling figures belong to Mohammad Nabi (then St Lucia Zouks), 5/15 against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2020.
Matthew Forde's 5/23 is the second-best five-wicket haul for the Saint Lucia franchise. David Wiese also recorded five-wicket hauls three times for the franchise, including 5/25 against Barbados Royals in 2021.
