Bangladesh gets trolled for collapse [Source: X and AFP]
After Bangladesh put up a record-breaking performance against Australia in the first Test, expectations were high ahead of the second Test at Mackay on August 22. With the Bengal Tigers ready to pounce on Australia, they were somehow dismantled for just 64 runs inside the first session of Day 1.
Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Litton Das all recorded ducks, with Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood proving their worth with the ball.
How Australia Dismantled Bangladesh In Mackay
Bangladesh's collapse, that earned them several unwanted records, was not expected from a team that dominated Australia in the first encounter in Darwin.
Australia are known for dominating at home, and the string of woeful performances in the first Test was a surprise that the hosts certainly did not appreciate. However, they have bounced back strongly.
The dismantling started from the very first ball of the Test match. Mitchell Starc took on Shadman Islam with a ripper of a full-length delivery that swung back towards the left-hander, forcing him to mistime his shot and edge the ball straight to Cameron Green at gully.
Starc's brilliance continued with the wickets of Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto, as he ripped through the Bangladesh batting order and left the visitors as mere spectators.
Pat Cummins started his attack relatively late, but eventually took the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim in the 16th over and still managed to bag three wickets. Mitchell Starc claimed six wickets, while Josh Hazlewood took one wicket from his 11 overs.

What is Bangladesh's worst batting collapse in Test cricket?
The lowest innings total that Bangladesh have recorded in Test cricket came back in 2018 against West Indies. Playing the first Test in July, Bangladesh came out to bat and were dismantled by Kemar Roach, Miguel Cummins, and Jason Holder.
Bangladesh were bowled out for just 43 runs inside 18.4 overs, with only Litton Das offering some resistance with a 53-ball 25. The top, middle, and lower-middle order all collapsed for single-digit scores.
When West Indies posted a massive total of 406 on the same surface, with Kraigg Brathwaite scoring a century and Devon Smith contributing a half-century, their innings rubbed salt on the Tigers' wounds.
The 406 runs posted by West Indies seemed like a mountain for Bangladesh to climb, as the team collapsed for 144 runs in their second innings, with Shannon Gabriel taking a five-wicket haul and Jason Holder claiming three wickets.
