And they played like that. Bowling first, the two left-arm orthodox spinners, Pavandeep Singh and Muhammad Amir Azim, shared three wickets apiece. While Virandeep Singh, alongside Muhammad Wafiq Zarbani and Syed Aziz Mubarak, picked up a solitary wicket. The remarkable effort with the ball from the Malaysians restricted Hong Kong to 81-9. Although they didn’t have a great start to the chase, Virandeep came to the rescue, stitching an unbeaten partnership of 70 runs with Muhamad Syahadat Ramli. After beating Hong Kong, Malaysia will next face Oman in another do-or-die fixture. Depending on the result, they will decide whether to proceed to the quarter-final against Pakistan.
