Aged 24, the top-order batter is expected to appear at the Inner London Crown Court in October. Das was arrested back in August last year after reports claimed that he had raped a woman in Brixton in March 2024. The woman continues to be supported by specialist officers.”Robin Das’ Bangladesh roots and English cricketing careerRobin Das is a British Bangladeshi who resides in East London. His family hails from the Sylhet Division in Bangladesh. He plays for Essex in England domestic cricket and has also represented the club’s second XI side on multiple occasions. To date, he has played nine first-class matches, 29 List A games and 24 T20s.He made his domestic debut in England during the 2020 Vitality T20 Blast season, scoring just seven runs off eight balls in his first innings against Sussex in Chelmsford.Notably, Robin has also played in the Bangladesh Premier League back during the 2022-2023 edition of the tournament for the Dhaka Dominators franchise. In all T20s, the right-handed batter has minted 341 runs in 22 innings at a strike rate of above 150, and listed 805 runs at an average of 28.75 in 29 List A innings. At the First-Class level, the cricketer has minted 327 runs in 13 innings with one century. Essex suspends Robin Das, assists ECB in investigationThe Essex cricket club has since suspended Robin Das from participating in any of the club’s cricketing activities.
