It is not like Rohit and I had a new relationship, or that I came as a coach from a foreign country who has neither seen Rohit play, nor knows Rohit individually or personally, what kind of person he is,” Gambhir told JioStar.Gambhir Reveals Best Part Of Knowing Someone For YearsFurthermore, Gautam Gambhir emphasised the importance of knowing someone well and how that helps make the best decisions for the team. However, he did not make any comment on whether Rohit would be picked for India’s World Cup 2027 squad or not.“So often when you have played together, things become very easy. And in fact, he knows my thinking, I know his thinking. Because tomorrow I might have some other thinking, the captain might have some other thinking, but ultimately, whatever is in the best interest of the team, if that’s the last final decision, then nothing can be better than that,” Gambhir added.Will Gambhir And Rohit Work Together In World Cup 2027?Nevertheless, given how inconsistent India have been of late under Gambhir’s watch across formats, there is still no guarantee whether Gambhir will be India’s head coach till the World Cup 2027. As things stand, his contract as India’s head coach will run till World Cup 2027, but the BCCI can terminate it anytime if things don’t go well.
