Sunday night in Kolkata marked one of the biggest days in Sanju Samson’s international career as he scored an unbeaten 97 off 50 to take India to the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The under-pressure knock came after India found themselves 41/2 while chasing a big total of 196 runs against West Indies in a virtual quarter-final, helping India finish second in their Super 8 group.
The chase also saw a crucial 27 (15) from Tilak Varma and 8* (4) from Shivam Dube at the end to avert any last-minute drama. With the ball in hand, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with 2/36 to his name in 4 overs.
As the defending champions reach the final four of the home tournament, we take a look at the key records made by India at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
