In a phenomenal achievement, experienced pacer Kagiso Rabada became South Africa's second most successful bowler in T20 World Cups. The veteran cricketer achieved the remarkable feat in South Africa's ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 encounter against the West Indies.
Kagiso Rabada provided South Africa with a dream start, as his early strikes dismantled the West Indies' top order. The right-arm pacer thus went past Dale Steyn on the list of South Africa's highest wicket-takers in T20 World Cups.
Kagiso Rabada surpasses Dale Steyn's T20 World Cup wickets tally
After winning the toss, South African captain Aiden Markram invited the West Indies to bat first in the crucial Super 8 affair at Narendra Modi Stadium. The Windies opening pair of Shai Hope and Brandon King took the Proteas bowling unit to the cleaners, stitching a 29-run partnership in 2.1 overs.
However, Kagiso Rabada triggered their batting collapse, getting rid of Hope in the third over. He further went on to dismiss the in-form Shimron Hetmyer, jolting the Windies with an extraordinary first spell.

Kagiso Rabada finally regains his mojo
One of the finest fast bowlers of modern-day cricket, Kagiso Rabada looked off-colour in the initial matches. The right-arm pacer bagged two wickets against Afghanistan and Canada combined before going wicketless in three consecutive matches in the competition.
So, his bowling heroics against the West Indies helped Rabada rediscover his form, with South Africa eyeing a spot in the semifinal. He has undoubtedly been the most potent weapon for his side irrespective of the format, and the Proteas would want him to step up with the ball in the remainder of T20 World Cup 2026.
West Indies fight back after early collapse
Talking about the match, the West Indies find themselves in troubled waters as they seek an entry into the T20 World Cup semifinal. After Rabada got rid of Hope and Hetmyer, Lungi Ngidi ran through the Caribbean middle-order by dismissing King, Roston Chase and Rovman Powell.
Although Sherfane Rutherford and Matthew Forde let the Men in Maroon down, registering low scores, the reliable duo of Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder rescued their team from the precarious situation.
The valiant batting effort of Holder and Shepherd powered West Indies to a respectable score. As of writing, Shai Hope and his troops were placed at 138 for seven in 16.2 overs, with Holder and Shepherd batting on 24* and 40*, respectively.
