Team India humbled a high-flying New Zealand team in the second T20I to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Chasing 209 runs for a win, Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav made lightwork of New Zealand’s huge total at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.

Ishan Kishan charted a 21-ball half-century in his comeback series for Team India. The innings also marked the fastest T20I fifty by any Indian batter against New Zealand, going past Abhishek Sharma and former cricketer Rohit Sharma in the process.
A few minutes later, Suryakumar Yadav also notched up a 23-ball half-century to level up with Abhishek and Rohit Sharma.

Despite tottering at 6-2 in 1.1 overs, Team India blazed to a record powerplay score of 75-2. Ishan Kishan orchestrated India’s counterattacking belligerence after the loss of both openers, as the blistering number three blasted 56* off just 23 balls by himself at the end of six overs.
The score marked India’s second best powerplay start against New Zealand in T20Is, falling just behind their 2007 T20 World Cup effort.
