On Wednesday, Babar Azam returned to action as his PSL side, Peshawar Zalmi, locked horns against Quetta Gladiators. The match turned out to be a one-sided affair after Babar’s heroic knock.

Notably, Quetta, batting first, were reduced to 154 runs after 20 overs. In reply, Zalmi chased down the total in 18.3 overs with 9 balls in hand. Babar Azam played a crucial role as the right-handed batter scored 71 (51), which featured eight fours.

Babar Azam Extends Heroic Run In PSL 2026

Before PSL 2026, Babar Azam was under immense pressure, as he fell out of the scheme of things in T20Is following the T20 World Cup 2026. The former Pakistan captain had a terrible campaign with just 91 runs in four innings.

PSL 2026 was his last chance to impress the selectors, and Babar grasped that opportunity. Talking about his season, the 31-year-old has scored 287 runs in six innings, averaging 71.75. Shedding light on his performance in the ongoing match, Babar Azam completed his 50 in 37 balls and scripted a historic milestone.

Babar Azam Joins Virat Kohli in a Historic Feat

Notably, it was Babar Azam’s 100th T20 fifty. He achieved the feat in his 341st innings and became the first Pakistani batter to reach this milestone. Overall, he became the fourth cricketer to have 100 T20 fifties.

It is worth noting that Babar Azam missed out on becoming the 3rd player to 100 T20 fifties as Jos Buttler recently joined the list. During GT's last match against Lucknow Super Giants, Buttler scored a fifty and became the 3rd player to score 100 fifties in T20 cricket.

Shedding light on Babar Azam’s T20 stats, the right-handed batter has 12200 runs in 341 innings, averaging 42.13. He has a strike rate of 128.35. Notably, Babar has 100 fifties and 11 centuries. Overall, he has 111 fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket.

Babar Azam Completes 4000 PSL Runs

Babar Azam has regained his lost mojo and confidence. The right-handed batter, in Peshawar's last match, completed 4000 PSL runs.

With his 43-run knock against Lahore Qalandars, Babar Azam completed 4000 runs in PSL. Notably, he became the first-ever player in the history of the league to reach this milestone. Babar has played 102 innings in PSL, averaging 45.50.
