On Wednesday, April 15, RCB and LSG locked horns at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium in
Bengaluru for IPL 2026 match 23. The hosts finally won the toss and asked the Rishabh Pant-led side to bat first.
The decision turned out to be gold as RCB restricted LSG to just 35/1 on the board. The power play had it all, but the talking point was Rishabh Pant’s injury.
Rishabh Pant Retires Out vs RCB
Pant walked to bat in the 5th over of the match. He faced three balls off Josh Hazlewood’s bowling and struggled to get going. Notably, the southpaw misjudged the first ball and got hit on his stomach on the second delivery.
However, on the third ball he faced in the over, Pant got hit on the elbow that left him in immense pain. The physio rushed in to treat the LSG captain. After a long discussion, the team decided that it would be best for the 28-year-old to retire hurt.

Rishabh Pant’s Unique Entry Clip Goes Viral
Amid Rishabh Pant’s injury, a clip of his entry has gone viral on social media. Notably, cricket is a gentleman’s game, but the southpaw is known for his unique moves on the field.
In the ongoing match against RCB, Pant walked down the dressing room and pulled off a David Miller-like move as he jumped over the advertising board to make a never-before-seen entry in IPL.
Rishabh Pant Pulls Off A David Miller-Like Move In IPL
Notably, Rishabh Pant's entry is inspired by the one David Miller did back in 2015. It was the ODI World Cup where South Africa locked horns against UAE. Notably, South Africa were in trouble early on in the game as they were reduced to 96/3.
Amid a tense situation, Miller pulled off a swag move and eventually pulled his team out of trouble. The southpaw, who is currently part of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026, made 49 (48), helping the Proteas to put 341 runs on the board.
LSG Sweat Over Rishabh Pant's Injury
At the time of writing this article, LSG are reduced to 112/4 after 15 overs. At present, there is no update on Pant, whether he would pull off a heroic like the Manchester Test, where he walked to bat with a fractured foot.

However, it looks unlikely here because it is still early in the tournament and Lucknow Super Giants cannot afford to lose their captain out for a long time. The southpaw is most likely to be sent for scans to understand the extend of the injury.
