In the history of the IPL, the scouting of the Pandya brothers (Hardik and Krunal) remains the finest. The Mumbai Indians scouting team gave two gems to the IPL, and both of them have gone on to carve a name for themselves in the league. Their journey started almost similarly, but in recent years, their trajectories have taken a different route.

Krunal has become RCB’s mainstay, and he was one of the reasons why the franchise lifted its maiden IPL title in 2025. The all-rounder continued from where he left off in IPL 2025 as he dominated the proceedings in the ongoing season.

On the other hand, Hardik became the Mumbai Indians captain in 2024, and since then, the franchise and the player have witnessed a downfall.

Krunal attains milestone that even Hardik has not achieved

Both Hardik and Krunal Pandya are terrific all-rounders, but there is one thing where the elder brother, Krunal, has taken the lead, and it is the wickets taken in the IPL. The Baroda left-arm spinner has run far away from Hardik in terms of wickets, and in the IPL 2026 match vs the LSG, he attained a century feat.

With the wicket of LSG batter, Abdul Samad, Krunal scalped his 100th wicket in the IPL, and it is a feat even Hardik, his brother, has failed to achieve, despite bowling four overs consistently in almost every match.

At the moment, Krunal has 100 IPL wickets under his belt in 146 matches, Hardik Pandya has 80 wickets to his name in 155 IPL games.

Both Krunal and Hardik have been multiple-time IPL winners, with both brothers playing a crucial role in MI’s success between 2017 and 2020.

Krunal has so far played in 146 IPL games, and he has accumulated 1757 runs with the bat, with a strike rate of 131.91. However, his real domination has come with the ball, as he has a century of wickets, with an economy of 7.52.

On the other hand, the younger brother, Hardik has dominated with the bat, and has smacked 2816 runs, with a strike rate of 147. With the ball, he has been slightly disappointing, taking 80 wickets, with an economy of 9.23.

Krunal's importance in RCB squad

Eyebrows were raised when the 35-year-old all-rounder was bought by RCB in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Before joining RCB, Krunal was associated with LSG, and he had not delivered the goods for them.

But RCB’s trust in the Baroda all-rounder paid off, almost immediately, as the left-arm spinner scalped 17 wickets in 15 games, last season. He was adjudged the Player of the Match in the IPL finale as his four overs turned the tide for RCB.

For the defending IPL champions, Krunal consistently completes his quota of four overs and is a genuine wicket-taker with his off-break deliveries. Moreover, he is also a more-than-handy lower-order batter, and his presence strengthens RCB’s batting.
