1st In PSL History! Babar Azam Unlocks New T20 Milestone

On Saturday, April 11, Babar Azam was back in action when his side Peshawar Zalmi locked horns against Lahore Qalandars. The two teams squared off at the National Stadium in Karachi, where Babar scripted plethora of records with his knock.

Babar Azam walked to bat in the first innings, where he scored a slow 43 (40), which featured three fours and a solitary six. The right-handed batter has been criticised for his slow batting, but overall, he has been among runs and amassed 212 runs in four innings, averaging 70.67.

Babar Azam Completes 4000 Runs In PSL

With his 43-run knock, Babar Azam also completed 4000 runs in PSL. Notably, he became the first-ever player in the history of the league to reach this milestone. Babar has played 102 innings in PSL, averaging 45.50.

Babar Azam has two centuries and 37 fifties in Pakistan's premier T20 league. Notably, he his heads and shoulders ahead of Fakhar Zaman, who is the second leading run-getter in the league with 3018 runs. Here is the complete list of leading run-getters in PSL.

First Pakistani Player To Reach 6000 T20 runs in Pakistan

A few days ago, Babar Azam completed 12000 T20 runs. Now, in the today's match, Babar Azam joined Virat Kohli in an elite list. He is now the second batter after Virat Kohli to score 6000+ T20 runs at home. 

Virat Kohli has 9833 runs in India, while Babar Azam just crossed the 6000 runs mark.

Babar Azam Completes 1000 Runs In PSL

Babar Azam has also completed 1000 runs in PSL. He has become the first player in the history of the league to reach this milestone. 

Babar Azam PSL Journey So Far

Babar Azam made his PSL debut in 2016. He moved to Karachi Kings in 2017. In 2020, he ended PSL as the leading run-getter of the edition with 473 runs and also won his maiden title.

In 2020, Babar Azam also earned the player of the tournament award for his performance. He moved to Peshawar Zalmi in 2023 and now has become the first-ever player to score 4000 PSL runs.

The ongoing season is crucial for Babar Azam as he is out of scheme of things for Pakistan in the T20I set-up.

Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, Peshawar Zalmi put 173/7 on the board. In reply, Lahore Qalandars have already lost a wicket and are in deep trouble early on in the innings.
