SRH batters break huge IPL record [Source: AP]
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise has scaled a huge batting record in IPL 2026. With Ishan Kishan taking the RCB attack to the cleaners in match number 67 of the tournament in Hyderabad, the blistering wicketkeeper-batter has now crossed 500 runs this season.
With Ishan scaling the landmark figure, the SRH franchise has become only the second team in history to feature three batters with an aggregate of 500 or more runs in a single edition of the tournament.
Ishan Kishan joins Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen
Ishan Kishan has completed 500 runs this IPL 2026 season for the SRH franchise. The blistering wicketkeeper-batter scaled the landmark figure during SRH’s home match against defending champions RCB at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday, May 22.

He has also become the third SRH batter this season to complete 500 runs, joining young opener Abhishek Sharma (563 runs) and South Africa import Heinrich Klaasen (576 runs).
The SRH franchise has now become only the second team in IPL history to have at least three players scoring 500 or more runs in a single season.
When Gujarat Titans scripted history with Gill, Sudharsan, Buttler
Back in IPL 2025 last year, the Gujarat Titans became the first franchise in history to have three batters scoring above 500 runs in a single edition. Back then, both Titans openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill plundered over 600 runs each, with the former mounting 759 runs to bag the ‘Orange Cap’ award.
Gill aggregated 650 runs in the season, and fellow top-order batter and legendary Englishman Jos Buttler charted 538 runs in 13 innings at an average of 59.77.
Titans openers continue to lead IPL 2026 race
Gujarat Titans openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill are also leading the overall run-scoring charts of the ongoing IPL 2026 season. After winning the ‘Orange Cap’ last year, Sudharsan is also its current recipient, having aggregated 638 runs in just 14 innings at a splendid average of 49.07 and with an astonishing strike rate of 157.92.

He is followed by his opening partner and team captain Shubman Gill, who has hauled 616 runs in 13 innings at 47.38 with a strike rate of 161.67.
SRH vs RCB: Story so far…
SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first in match 67 of the IPL 2026 season in Hyderabad. Opening batter Abhishek Sharma blasted 56 runs off just 22 balls to get his side off to a flier inside the powerplay.
Travis Head raced to a swift 16-ball 26, while Ishan Kishan slapped a fiery 31-ball half-century with four fours and two sixes at the time. Heinrich Klaasen also raced to 47* off 21 balls around the 15-over mark of the innings.
For the RCB, only Rasikh Salam and Suyash Sharma have managed to pick up a wicket so far in the high-scoring evening.
