Abhishek Sharma had a poor T20 World Cup 2026, as the Indian opener failed to deliver the goods. There were high expectations from him, but the southpaw just couldn’t replicate the form he had shown in bilaterals. However, come the IPL, Abhishek was back in his red-hot form, and KKR became his first victim.

After getting dismissed cheaply in the IPL opener against RCB, Abhishek roared back amongst the run-getters and punished the KKR bowlers to attain a special six-hitting feat, a milestone which has only been achieved by one Indian opener before him.

Abhishek Sharma attains T20 six-hitting milestone to join Rohit Sharma

Abhishek is known for his power-packed batting at the top, and since 2024, his resurrection has been the talk of the town. Up until 2024, he was just another player on the SRH side, but since the IPL two years ago, the left-handed batter has witnessed a stellar turnaround.

In the last couple of years, Abhishek has become a six-hitting monster, and with his big hit against Varun Chakaravarthy in the IPL match against KKR, the SRH player became the second Indian opener to smash 300 sixes in T20s.

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians opener, occupies the top spot with 330 big hits, followed by Abhishek, who has smacked 301 sixes, and has a good chance of eclipsing Rohit in the near future.

Abhishek makes mockery of Varun Chakaravarthy

Of all the KKR bowlers in the IPL 2026 match, Abhishek had a special liking for his Indian teammate, Varun Chakaravarthy. As soon as KKR brought him into the attack, the SRH opener decided to unleash his beast mode.

On the first ball of the 6th over delivered by Chakaravarthy, Abhishek made his intentions clear by smashing a huge six. It was followed by a six and a four on the 3rd and the 4th delivery as pressure mounted on the KKR spinner.

He then ended the over with a couple of boundaries as Chakaravarthy conceded 25 runs, the joint-highest he has ever conceded in an IPL over.

After getting punished by the SRH player, KKR finally got rid of him when Blessing Muzarabani dismissed Abhishek for a well-compiled 48 off 21 balls. However, before getting dismissed, the southpaw had done enough damage and helped the Orange Army attain plenty of milestones.
